I am lucky.
I am lucky, and probably you are too.
This August I met a girl, she is only sixteen and had a hell of a life, but not in a fun and good way. I am sure there are people who had seen worst, but this was the first time that things like that crossed my life.
I am a 25 years old girl, I live in a pretty small town in Sardegna (Italy) and I’ve always walked by myself even in the middle of the night.
This should be normal, I remember that several times I walked my dog at 3 am before going to bed; ok, he was a huge rottweiler but that is not the point, the point is that I felt safe and nothing ever happened.
I remember coming back from my boyfriend's house around midnight and alone during the summer. I also remember all of the fights because he wanted to drove me home even if it was just a 10 min walk.
I now understand his concerns and see how silly and cocky I was.
Please, do not think that he let that happened a lot because he always found a way to accompany me or call me for the entire walk.
I saw that growing up I started to be more scared of doing it, I don’t know if it is because I started reading the news or just became less arrogant, but it happened.
